ALBAWABA - In the latest Rapid Support Forces (RSF) attack, at least 23 people have been killed in North Kordofan State, western Sudan, local NGOs reported.
Mashad Observatory for Human Rights, a local legal watchdog, stated "RSF militia committed a massacre in several villages of the Al-Rahad locality in North Kordofan State, killing at least 23 civilians and injuring others,".
Mashad observatory added that the attack started when an RSF force intercepted vehicles coming from Al-Rahad city, heading to the weekly market in Um Simaima village, north of Um Rawaba city. The militia opened fire on the passengers.
The Sudanese Doctors Network, a non-governmental group, released a statement condemning the attack, saying that the RSF committed a heinous crime against defenseless civilians in the North Kordofan state.
The Sudanese Doctors Network, confirmed the attack, stating that "the RSF carried out a new massacre against civilians from the village of Fangouga in North Kordofan State, opening fire on unarmed passengers on their way to shop, killing 23 people on the spot and injuring others".
Meanwhile, the Sudanese Armed Forces targeted the cities of Nyala and El Daein in the Darfur region, with barrel bombs, killing and injuring a number of civilians, and destroying several public service facilities and residences.
According to local accounts, warplanes dropped explosive barrels on residences in El Geneina, West Darfur, inflicting widespread devastation. A woman and four civilians were killed in an attack on the residential area of Al-Naseem.
According to the same sources, the Army targeted locations far away from the military sites where the RSF are stationed. They further stated that one of the barrels fell on a cemetery in the city.
