ALBAWABA - The Israeli army announced that another soldier was killed during fighting in southern Gaza, The Times of Israel reported on Sunday.

According to local media, the total number of deaths among soldiers since the start of the ground operation in the Gaza Strip jumped to 225.

The Israeli army posted on Saturday that the Operational Transport Unit has conducted over 1,500 operations to evacuate injured soldiers from the Gaza Strip since Oct. 27.

The army wrote on X (formerly Twitter): "Regular and reserve operational transport soldiers from the Marom Brigade perform complex operations under fire in the enemy's territory.”

It added: "Soldiers transport tens of thousands of fighters to and from the strip, maintaining constant contact with ground maneuver forces and medical units in the country. The unit serves as a link between the internal areas of the Gaza Strip and Israeli territory.”

The Israeli army's announcement comes amid calls by Oman to end the war in Gaza as the foreign minister revealed that Oman is following the escalation in the Middle East with "great concern".

Sayyid Badr al-Busaidi said in a statement that the conflict is escalating without a solution or a ceasefire deal to "the unjust war" in Gaza.

The statement by the Omani minister comes amid the continuous Israeli airstrikes on Gaza which killed at least  27,238 Palestinians and left more than 66,452 others injured.

Yesterday, the US-led coalition announced hitting 36 Houthi targets in various locations in Yemen, in response to the Houthi attacks on ships in the Red Sea.

Houthis released a statement earlier today saying that the US and Britain's attacks "will not deter" them.
