Qatar Tourism Authority held a press conference today to reveal a preview of the 7th annual Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition, the leading event of its kind in the region. It was announced that Qatar National Bank (QNB) will be the Gold sponsor of the event and Commercial Bank and Qatar Airways will be Silver sponsors. The highly anticipated exhibition will be held from 16 – 21 February 2010 at the Doha Exhibitions Center in Qatar.

The event, organized by Qatar Tourism Authority, continues to attract a strong field of new renowned international brands while retaining current loyal exhibitors.  This year’s event will showcase over 250 international brands including several of the world’s leading names in the industry.  In addition to an impressive list of returning buyers, this year’s exhibition will host for the first time more than 30 new participants representing some of the world’s leading names in the industry.

Mr. Ahmed Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority commented:  “The timing of the 7th Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition is significant in that it falls between the two most important jewellery and watches exhibitions in Switzerland:  the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie in Geneva and Baselworld in Basel.  The Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition has thus become part of the preview series for the latest collections.”

Under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, who will inaugurate this prestigious exhibition, the luxury six-day showcase will be the largest to date, covering nearly 15,000 square meters of exhibition space.  More than 20,000 visitors are expected to attend the 2010 show.

“There are more than 30 exhibitions hosted annually at the Doha Exhibitions Center, and the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition is one of most prestigious and widely attended in the region,” said Mr. Al Nuami.  “It is among the top ‘must-attend’ events for both exhibitors and buyers.  This event not only places Doha at the center of innovation in the art of jewellery and watch design, but also underlines our dedication to offering the best in the region to our visitors and residents.”

Mr. Mohamed Ali Al-Khulaifi, Executive General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of QNB said: “QNB is honored to be a key partner to the Qatar Tourism Authority for the second successive year in promoting this high-profile event that contributes to enhancing Qatar’s international reputation.”

The sponsorship is part of QNB’s commitment to supporting economic and social activities that contribute to the growth and development of the State of Qatar. The exhibition is also a celebration of creativity, innovation and craftsmanship which are values that QNB understands and strives to uphold in the products and services offered across all its banking activities.
