A total of 2,000 Bahrainis are to benefit from a special training scheme that will boost information technology skills in Bahrain, reported the Gulf Daily News on Saturday.

The initiative aims to develop local IT expertise and build a highly skilled workforce to meet the needs of the growing economy.

Two agreements were signed Saturday between the Bahrain Training Institute (BTI) and IBM.

The first agreement will result in the training of 2,000 Bahrainis in the field over five years, while the second will establish a new IT Center of Excellence at the BTI, said the paper.

The center will be supervised by the BTI with IBM’s business partner, Gulf Business Machines (GBM).

The five-year training program will be implemented and conducted through this specialized center – Albawaba.com
