“Towards a safer airport environment” with ADAC and IAFPA
UAE capital to host first information sharing forum of its kind in the Middle East
Abu Dhabi Airports Company’s (ADAC) ongoing commitment to observe and implement the highest international safety standards has once again been highlighted with its commitment to become principle sponsor of the first International Aviation Fire Protection Association’s (IAFPA) conference to be held in the Middle East.
IAFPA was formed in 2000 with the aim of bringing about closer co-operation between airports, municipal and military fire and emergency services in order to enhance all aspects of rescue and fire protection at international airports and has already held conferences across Europe, Asia and Australasia.
“IAFPA – UAE is set to be the key event for all aviation safety personnel in the Middle East region and attending delegates can be sure that they will strengthen their understanding and co-operation on a wide range of aviation fire and safety issues,” said H.E. Khalifa Al Mazrouei, Chairman and MD of ADAC and opening speaker at the conference.
With the conference theme “Towards a Safer Airport Environment,” key topics to be discussed will include; Airport Emergency Planning; Airport Fire Protection Levels; Medical Emergencies; Challenges facing the Airport Fire Services in the future; International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Standards; and Aircraft Disaster Recovery Plans.
A line-up of key industry speakers from the UK, Germany, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the Middle East will include BAA’s Owen Healy, a veteran in military and civil aviation fire safety, Dr Mark Leung, Senior Medical Consultant, Singapore General Hospital, Adrian Lim, an Operations Planning Officer with Changi Airport Emergency Service, Patrick Leung, an Operations Officer from Hong Kong’s modern Chek Lap Kok airport, as well as Greg Janelle, Emergency Response Manager for Etihad Airways and Lachlan Thurston, Chief ANS Regulations with UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
IAFPA – UAE will run from 25-26 March 2008 at the Hilton – Abu Dhabi. A pre-conference cocktail reception will be open to delegates arriving on the evening of 24 March from 7pm, and a gala dinner will be held on 25 March.
