An Egyptian man has admitted to beating and hacking his 19-year-old niece to death in what he described as a bid to preserve the family's honor.

Heba Makin was killed in cold blood by her uncle with her father's consent because she "had a bad reputation and frequented young men," MENA quoted a police report as saying.

The two men were turned into police by the sister of one of them, MENA said Tuesday, adding that investigators had discovered blood stains, rope and a sickle at the uncle's apartment in Mokattam, a Cairo neighborhood.

He reportedly admitted shaving the young woman's head, killing her with blows from a stick and the sickle, and then transporting her body along with the father to a bridge, where they threw it into the Nile. (Albawaba.com)
