The Center for Career Guidance and Planning (CCGP) of the National Human Resources Development and Employment Authority (Tanmia) today (Monday, March 13th, 2006), announced the launch of ‘Tanmia-Damas Career Quiz’ in association with Zayed University, Emirates University, Higher Colleges of Technology and Dubai World Trade Center. The quiz, sponsored by Damas, is open to students from colleges across Dubai.
Saif Al Noaimi, Director - CCGP, said, “This quiz is aimed at involving students in creating and spreading awareness about UAE’s job market and employment opportunities. The format of the quiz has been designed to be informative by itself, and all participants will be immensely benefited by this.”

The Tanmia-Damas Career Quiz will perfectly complement Tanmia’s goal of enhancing employment opportunities for UAE Nationals by targeting the student community and exposing them to facts of the current job market,” added Al Noaimi.
The quiz will be conducted in Zayed University on March 29th, 2006, Emirates University on April 3rd and Higher Colleges of Technology on April 4th, while the results will be announced during the Career Fair on April 23rd , 2006 at Dubai World Trade Center.
Tanmia, the National Human Resource Development & Employment Authority in the UAE, was established by a Presidential decree in November 1999, to address the imbalance in the labour market, due to excessive dependence on expatriate workforce. Tanmia is engaged in a coordinating role, between national job seekers and employers in the private and gaovernment sectors, to facilitate increased entry of nationals in the labour market. The responsibilities that rest with the Authority are: to set up the overall policy of the Authority and supervise its implementation, conduct sustained operational and administrative labour market studies and analysis, provide career counseling and guidance to the national work force, follow-up and evaluate employment of nationals in public and private sectors, support small investment enterprises through the establishment of self-employment projects for national human resources and develop programmes for training and qualifying nationals seeking employment, in conformity with the labour market needs.
