‘Hong Kong in Style’ exhibition returns to Dubai in November after resounding 2004 success

The second ‘Hong Kong in Style exhibition’ is set to bring the most stylish of Hong Kong’s offerings to Dubai from November 7-10, 2005, at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre. The exhibition will be held concurrently with the annual International Autumn Trade Fair.
More than 200 Hong Kong companies specialising in premium fashion accessories, watches, jewellery, electronics, homeware and hotelware will be exhibiting their products to a UAE market that accounted for US$ 2.9 billion worth of exports from Hong Kong in 2004, a sharp appreciation of 15 percent over 2003.
Hong Kong in Style’s debut show last year drew over 20,000 buyers from 70 countries, in addition to participation by a large number of Hong Kong companies, and the show is looking to build on its success in 2005.
“We are excited to come back to Dubai after a very successful outing last year. Very few cities in the world can offer us the kind of opportunities that Dubai presents, especially from a business perspective,” said Jeff Ambjorn, Middle East Director for the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, organizer of the event. “This year we will showcase a much wider range of products across all categories, and introduce additional novelty in terms of styling, design and quality. Visitors can expect to see some of the best products and services that Hong Kong has to offer.”
The most prestigious fashion accessories, watches and jewellery will also be showcased at the Hong Kong Extravaganza, a gala evening celebrating the business relationship between Hong Kong and the UAE.
In addition to the exhibition, a delegation of Hong Kong business leaders will be in Dubai, exploring new business opportunities between the UAE, Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland. The delegation will be led by David Eldon, chairman of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce.
The UAE constitutes Hong Kong’s largest export market in the Middle East, and is rapidly growing. Major exports to the UAE include garments and fashion accessories, telecom equipment, watches and clocks, office machinery and computer parts, audio-visual equipment and precious and semi-precious stones. UAE’s imports from Hong Kong have carried their growth trend into 2005, with a 2 percent increase in the first seven months of the year.
Trade buyers will be offered free entry to ‘Hong Kong in Style’ from November 7-9, and the exhibition will be opened to the general public on November 10th between17:00 to 21:00.
