The new 2012 Accord: sophisticated and spacious design with an emphasis on safety, technology and performance

The new 2012 Accord sedan has arrived in the GCC. In addition to its sophisticated design, comfortable passenger space, agile handling and sporty yet fuel efficient performance, the 2012 Accord now packs safety features such as 6 airbags, active head restrains (front), VSA, ABS with EBD and ACE body. All the grades of Accord are fitted with these features as standard thus reflecting Honda Safety Philosophy of safety for everyone.

Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) helps in poor traction conditions to maintain vehicle control during understeer and oversteer situations.

Anti-lock disc brakes (ABS), with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), enhanced the steering control under hard braking and in low-traction conditions. It prevents the wheels from locking and allows to steer out of the way of unexpected hazards.

Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure helps spread out the forces of a frontal collision to help avoid concentrated impact forces that cause injuries.

6-airbag system with the latest front, dual chamber side and side curtain airbags help reduce injuries in a collision.

Active front head restraints help reduce the whiplash injuries in a rear impact.

Interior Design

Space, quality and comfort define the 2012 Accord sedan interior with world-class ergonomics and intuitive vehicle controls. A zone styling approach separates operation-related instruments (top) and information-related instruments (lower). Steering wheel mounted cruise control and audio controls are standard on all grades of Accord. A tilt and telescopic steering column and 8-way full power driver’s seat adjustment ensures the driver’s comfortable driving position. The modern comfort & convenience features like Active Noise Cancelation (available on V6 grades), dual zone automatic air-conditioning, plush leather interiors, 6CD premium sound system with USB jack, auto dimming rearview mirror smoked glass sunroof make every travelling experience pleasurable. Available in L4 and V6 top grades is Honda navigation system with 8” bright screen for stress free drive to reach the intended destination. The 8” screen automatically displays the rear view of the car when reverse gear is selected.

Technologies

The upscale instrumental panel is outfitted with the new technology features like Navigation System, i-Dual Zone Automatic Air-conditioner, Bluetooth Hands Free Telephone (HFT) and rear view camera.

The Navigation System has extensive coverage of all major roads in GCC and its large 8-inch screen and jog dial for navigation controls is easy to use.

The i-Dual Zone Automatic Air-conditioner uses GPS sensors to adjust zone temperature according to the position of vehicle relative to the sun.

Rear view camera which allows the driver to visually verify the area immediately behind the car to enhance safety and comfort.

The Bluetooth Hands Free Telephone (HFT) allows to pair compatible mobile phones for making or receiving a call without taking hands off the steering wheel.

Engine

Accord Sedan 2.4 LX and 2.4 EX grades are equipped with a 178-horsepower, 2.4-liter, i-VTEC, 4-cylinder engine.

Accord Sedan 3.5 LX and 3.5 EX grades are equipped with 271-horsepower 3.5-liter, i-VTEC V6 engine with Variable Cylinder Management^TM (VCM) technology.

Transmission

A 5-speed automatic transmission is standard on all models.

Chassis

Performance inspired double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension and variable gear ratio steering system encourages confident handling performance and a comfortable ride. Available wheel options are 16-inch steel wheels or 17 alloy wheels. All Accords feature four-wheel disc brakes.
