For the third year running, Nawras is proud to be supporting the extensive Summer Sports Programme ably organised by the Ministry of Sports. The programme started on 18 June and will continue for a period of three months.

The Sultanate of Oman’s customer friendly communications provider is delighted to be the main sponsor of this enriching programme which last year enabled more than 60,000 students to benefit from games, sports education, training and competitions.

During the summer students can participate in as many as 37 different sports which are being offered at over 350 training centres across the country.

Sponsorship Team Leader, Hussein Al Fadhill said, “Nawras is delighted to support the Summer Sports Programme as it offers such great opportunities for so many young people. The long summer holiday is the perfect time to learn a new sport or take part in a favourite sporting activity. The programme is an enjoyable way to stay healthy too.”

Nawras is supplying the Summer Sports programme’s coaches with specially made uniforms featuring the logos of the programme alongside the now familiar Nawras logo. Coaches are located at many of the venues to provide guidance and teach new skills to the thousands of young people who are expected to sign up for activities.

Nawras is extremely proud to have strong sporting links with two of Oman’s top sportsmen, both of whom are Nawras ambassadors. Highly successful goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi, the only Omani playing in the English Premier League and racing driver Ahmad Al Harthy, who is regularly securing podium finishes in England, are both part of the Nawras family.

Supporting the Summer Sports Programme also fits well with one of the company values: to be caring. Nawras has a long term strategy for offering support to the community through a comprehensive corporate social responsibility programme and numerous sponsorships.

One of the major annual commitments is the Nawras Goodwill Journey which occurs during Ramadan. Volunteers travel thousands of kilometres around the Sultanate to deliver needed items to charitable establishments as well as spend time with less fortunate members of society.
