Nawras sponsors popular Muscat Community Football League for youngsters

As part of an active and varied sponsorship programme, Nawras is delighted to be sponsoring the Muscat Community Football League (MCFL) once again this year. Four Nawras teams and two Shababiah teams of youngsters are playing every Thursday and over 650 children will be taking part in the Nawras Shababiah Tournaments in March.
Anwar Al-Habsi, Nawras Sponsorship and Event Specialist, said, “This league provides great enjoyment and exercise for hundreds of children as they practise at training sessions with their coach and team members during the week before playing competitively in matches every Thursday. It’s a great way to learn about the benefits of teamwork and being united to achieve a common goal. Most importantly of course, it’s great fun too for all the youngsters who are involved.”
With 46 teams in the 2010/2011 league, competition is tough in all five different age groups. During the season, each team plays twice against the other teams in the same group to find the league winners. Everyone then has the opportunity to compete for the title of tournament winners in the exciting final knockout event, which often finishes in a nail-biting climax with a penalty shootout.
Hundreds of children look forward to playing in the MCFL every year and Nawras is delighted to be supporting this sporting opportunity for the third year running.
Speaking on behalf of the small committee of hard-working volunteers, Amanda Armstrong said, “We are grateful to Nawras for their continued sponsorship and support of this valuable community event.”
Nawras, a Qtel Group company, actively supports the local community with a variety of sporting sponsorships covering bowling, cricket, golf, swimming, football, sailing and basketball.
