A blast in the Yemeni capital Sanaa on Wednesday targetted a vehicle carrying the deputy chief of the British mission in Yemen, a security source said. "There was an attempt against a vehicle belonging to British employees at the British embassy, with only one shock injury caused," said a security source, according to Reuters. However, later, reports said that three people were wounded by the explosion. The vehicle was on its way to embassy with five staff members on board when it came under fire, Britain's Foreign Office said in a statement.

Also Wednesday, a gunman shot and killed the French manager of Austrian oil and gas company OMV. The attacker was believed to be a security guard at the company's compound outside the capital. The motive was not immediately clear.
