Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood called to hold a mass rally next Friday in Cairo's Tahrir Square to demand a new government. The Al Quds Al Arabi newspaper said the movement, which was banned during the rule of president Hosni Mubarak, is demanding a government without any figure who served under Mubarak.
A senior leader of the Brotherhood Essam el-Erian commented on the line-up of the new cabinet: "The ministers of defense, justice, interior and foreign affairs have not changed, indicating that Egypt's policy will remain in the hands of Mubarak and his followers."
Ten new ministers sworn in Tuesday in front of Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, the President of the Supreme Military Council, which manages the affairs of the country. Some of the ministers opposed Mubarak, while other ministers kepy their portfolios, including the Ministries of Justice, Interior, Foreign Affairs, Military Production and the Environment. The hated minister of Information as well as the ministers of oil and culture were replaced.
