Egypt's Vice President Omar Suleiman on Monday said that Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak entrusted him with an immediate dialogue with the opposition on constitutional and legislative reforms "and a specific timetable". He made these comments on the eve of the 1-million demonstration called by the opposition movements, as part of the national uprising against the regime.

The former intelligence chief added that the president "stressed" that "the rules by the Court of Cassation in the electoral appeals must be given the urgent implementation and without delay so as to ensure re-election in the constituencies where the appeal was accepted."

Sulaiman said in a statement read by the Egyptian television, "the President today instructed me to contact immediately all political forces to start a dialogue on all issues raised relating to constitutional reforms."
