A Yemeni air strike on a convoy of vehicles near the southern city of Zinjibar killed at least four civilians and injured 12 on Wednesday, medical sources and witnesses said. The convoy that was struck had left Zinjibar for the main southern city of Aden.
Elsewhere, a colonel was killed in the latest fighting between the army and gunmen around the city, a military source told AFP. He was one of 16 Yemeni soldiers killed in fighting on Wednesday with the alleged Al-Qaeda gunmen.
More than 100 troops have been killed since the gunmen seized control of most of Zinjibar on May 29.
