The son of Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi said on Thursday foreign journalists were welcome to enter the country. "We say to the world that we have opened the country to journalists from all over the world," Seif al-Islam said, according to AFP.
He added journalists and diplomats were welcome to verify for themselves what he said were false reports that air strikes had targeted protesters against his father's rule.
Seif al-Islam also said the death toll from Libyan security forces has been limited.
He also blamed Egypt and other Arab states he did not identify of plotting "conspiracy" against Libya, saying that "it was not a conspiracy by the Libyans, it was a conspiracy coming from your Arab brothers."
Saif al-Islam said that everything was calm in Tripoli on Wednesday, with the exception of "only one attack which killed the guard of the Libyan radio building." He called on traders to open their shops and send their children to school, saying that life goes on normally in Tripoli, and encouraged citizens to do so in the rest of the regions.
