Jordan: Number of swine flu-related fatalities up

 Dr Mahmoud Alshiyab, the Jordanian Minister of Health has said the number of death cases from swine flu in the kingdom increased to four. The minister conveyed that the kingdom has so far registered 19 cases of swine flu since its the first infection on December 11, adding that the five cases recovered fully from the disease, while 10 others were subject to treatment.

The Jordanian Minister of Health said that his ministry had followed procedures according to the national plan to deal with swine flu. Earlier it was reported that an Arab student at the beginning of his 30s died from swine flu, bringing the death toll to three. 

Last year, 3,049 H1N1 cases were registered in Jordan with 16 swine flu-related fatalities. Over 45,000 people have been inoculated against the H1N1 virus since November 2009.
