The Iraqi police announced Tuesday that a suicide bombing that targeted a police recruitment center in Tikrit killed 60 and injured some 200.
Tikrit is the largest city in Salahuddin province, north of Baghdad. The Salahuddin province will observe a three-day mourning in honor of the victims, reports said.
A spokesman for the Tikrit police conveyed that more than 300 people were lining up at the recruitment center at the time of the attack. The suicide bomber, who used an explosive vest, was standing in the line.
Ahmed Abdul-Jabbar, deputy governor of Salahuddin province, blamed al-Qaeda for carrying out this attack.
