Four senior Al-Qaeda detainees escaped from a US-controlled section of an Iraqi prison overnight, Baghdad's security spokesman said on Thursday. "Four senior members of Al-Qaeda escaped from Cropper prison on Wednesday evening," Major General Qassim Atta was quoted as saying by AFP.
Atta added the four were being held in a US-controlled section of the prison. A US military spokesman confirmed the escape.
