The number of civilians, police and soldiers killed by violence in Iraq declined sharply last month compared to the month before, government data indicated on Friday. Bombings and others attacks killed 185 civilians in September compared to 295 in August, according to Health Ministry statistics.A total of 32 troops and 55 police officers died, according to statistics from the defence and interior ministries, compared to 54 and 77, respectively, in August.

The ministries said 284 civilians, 90 police officers and 111 soldiers were hurt.
