Egypt and Iran have signed an agreement to resume direct flights between them for the first time since the two nations' diplomatic relations fell apart in 1979. According to the AP, the head of the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority, Sameh al-Hafni, conveyed 28 flights will carry travellers between Cairo and Tehran every week.
Under the agreement announced Sunday, a privately owned company called Egyptian Mission will regulate and organize the weekly trips to Iran. The agreement was announced as an Iranian delegation arrived in Cairo in a bid to expand mutual cooperation between the two countries in the tourism and air transportation sectors, Fars news agency reported.
