According to Libyan official sources, the country's leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi has sent a letter to U.S. President Barack Obama after the announcement of Washington's withdrawal from the military campaign against Libya. This came as the rebels urged NATO to the use of the sea in order to provide supplies to the Western city of Misrata, which is besieged by Gaddafi's forces
The official Libyan news agency said on Wednesday that Gaddafi's "sent a letter to Obama in the wake of the withdrawal of America from the imperialist and aggressive crusade alliance against Libya." The agency said did not disclose the contents of this letter.
On his part, French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe said on Wednesday said that the military operations in Libya became more complicated after the forces loyal to Muammar Gaddafi adopted new methods which increase the risk of civilian casualties. The Libyan opposition contends NATO forces slowed the intensity of the air strikes.
Juppe and that "the situation in Misrata can not continue", in reference to the siege and the bombing carried out by Gaddafi forces on the city.
