A senior police officer was killed Wednesday in northern Iraq. The first Division Chief of Nineveh Police died in a suicide bombing attack targeting the police headquarters in Bab Sinjar, near Mosul.
Six suicide bombers wearing explosive belts approached the police headquarters, reports said. Policemen shot dead three of them while one blew himself up killing Major Shamel Akla. The other suicide bombers escaped. Three other people were killed.
Part of the building collapsed in the explosions, reports added.
