An Egyptian court sentenced ex- interior minister Habib al-Adly to 12 years for money-laundering on Thursday. Adly, who ran President Mubarak's security services for more than a decade before the latter's ouster in February, was also convicted of illicitly enriching himself while in office.
According to AFP, he had pleaded not guilty to both charges.
The former minister now faces a second trial on charges of ordering police to open fire on demonstrators.
