Eyewitnesses said Monday afternoon that the Libyan regime stepped up its operations against Libyan demonstrators demanding its departure. They reported about the use of warplanes which bombed Tripoli and in the roads leading to it in order to restrict the large numbers of people coming to the city from neighboring cities.

Qatar-based Al Jazeera TV reported Monday that the warplanes launched bomb into crowds of anti-government protesters in Tripoli. The report by the channel, citing witnesses, could not be verified.

For its part, the Libyan state television acknowledged Monday there were several "victims" among the security forces. Prior to this announcement the television said Libyan security forces raided "nests of terror and sabotage," and called on Libyans to cooperate with them "to extend security" in the country
