Egyptian tycoon Hisham Talaat Moustafa was jailed for 15 years for the murder of a Lebanese pop singer during his re-trial on Tuesday, more than a year after he was sentenced to death. "Hisham Talaat Moustafa was sentenced to 15 years in jail and (his associate Mohsen) al-Sukkari to 25 years for the murder of Suzanne Tamim," an Egyptian report said.
The pair had been sentenced to death by hanging in May 2009 for the July 2008 murder of the pop diva in Dubai but an appeals court overturned the convictions this March and ordered a retrial citing procedural errors.
Moustafa was an associate of President Hosni Mubarak's son Gamal and sat on the ruling party's policies committee.
