One Egyptian person was killed and six others were injured on Wednesday after a bomb attack struck a security vehicle in Egypt's restive Sinai peninsula, security sources reported.
Civilians and security officers were among the casualties, Egyptian officials told news agency Agence France Presse (AFP).
A wave of violence is currently engulfing Egypt as Islamist militants launch attacks on security forces in retaliation to the army ousting former president Mohamed Morsi in July.
Witnesses who saw Wednesday's attack reported that it was carried out by two men riding a motorcycle who threw a bomb at a security vehicle in the North Sinai city of al-Arish. They later fled, AFP said.
Egypt's Interior Ministry confirmed Wednesday's attack and said that seven people were injured in the violence.
A presidential election is set to take place on May 26-27 during which former army chief Abdel Fattah al-Sisi - who was instrumental in ousting Morsi - is expected to win.
