News sources reported that a number of people were injured during violent clashes Tuesday between protesters and Egyptian security forces in front of the Bar Association in downtown Cairo. The demonstrators were carrying the Egyptian flag and chanted slogans against the regime and the government, demanding social and political reforms.
According to organizers, some 30,000 Egyptians participated in the rally. They said it is the biggest protest in the country for 25 years. -Water cannon and tear gas have been fired at protesters.
There were casualties among the civilians and security men as a result of clashes with protesters who stormed Ramsis Street heading to the capital's Tahrir Square. Security forces confiscated cameras of journalists.
Outside Cairo, in the port city of Ismailiya, hundreds chanted anti-government slogans and warned other Arab leaders they would meet the same fate as former Tunisian strongman Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, who was ousted by a popular uprising after 23 years in power.
Earlier, the government tried to warn opposition activists, saying that they would face arrest if they carry out protest rallies.
