A curfew in the cities of Cairo, Alexandria and Suez has been extended to begin from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m., Egyptian state television reported on Saturday amid growing anti-government anger.
Thousands of protesters gathered in central Cairo on Saturday, a day after the Egyptian army stepped in to maintain calm.
Meanwhile there are reports that the death toll since Friday is now over 60, including members of the security forces. Three police officers died on Saturday in a grenade attack launched by angry protesters in Rafah on the border between Egypt and the Gaza Strip, according to eyewitnesses. They added that the border guards are still in control of the Rafah terminal.
