Egypt charges national and two Israelis for recruiting agents

Egypt's State Security on Monday said an Egyptian and two Israelis have been charged with recruiting agents in Egypt, Syria, and Lebanon to spy for the Israeli Mossad Prosecutor Hisham Badawi in press conference Monday charged an Egyptian businessman with harming the country's national interests. Two Israelis were charged in absentia as well, the AP reported.

Khaled Hassan, the suspect, was detained in August.

Earlier, the Egyptian authorities announced the discovery of a spy cell, which involved four Egyptians and two Israelis whom were allegedly plotting to kidnap tourists in Sinai peninsula. It is unclear if there is any connection between the two cases.

The four were detained in May and authorities claimed they notified Interpol about the two Israeli officers working as their handlers.
