Morocco's interior minister declared early legislative elections have been scheduled for Nov. 25. The kingdom's official MAP news agency on Tuesday reported Taieb Cherkaoui has announced the date.

According to the AP, the vote had been expected in late 2012 but was pushed forward as part of democratic reforms declared by King Mohammed VI.

The country has seen frequent protests over the past months, with demonstrators calling for new parliamentary elections and constitutional reforms and trials of corrupted officials. Last month, Moroccans overwhelmingly approved a new constitution.
