The foreign ministers of the six Gulf states will meet their Russian counterpart in Riyadh on March 7 to discuss developments in Syria, said Thursday the Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs. "There will be a meeting between the Russian Foreign Minister and ministers of Gulf Cooperation Council ( GCC ) in Riyadh on March 7, "said Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Sabah to MPs, adding that the ministers of the six monarchies will "express their disappointment with the Russian position" regarding the crisis in Syria.
Moscow and Beijing used their veto in the U.N. Security Council for a draft resolution condemning the Syrian regime.
Sheikh Sabah was speaking during an emergency session of Parliament dedicated to the new escalation of repression in Syria against the protest movement calling for the resignation of President Bashar al-Assad. He said that the Gulf states would "call on Russia to take a position that would meet the aspirations of the Syrian people."
Meanwhile, there are reports about clashes in the opposition strongholds of Homs and Deraa. Violent clashes are also reported in Idlib.
