The Secretary General of the Arab League Amr Moussa on Thursday voiced his pessimism regarding the fate of the negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, saying that indirect talks have not achieved what requires to move to direct negotiations and "build confidence" with the Jewish state. While in Damascus, Moussa told reporters after meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem: "I am very pessimistic over the future of this process."
Moussa stated that the indirect negotiations between the two sides "did not achieve anything." He also stressed the lack of "any information about Israeli proposals for the so-called confidence building measures." However, Moussa added, "I want to wait for the meeting of the Monitoring Committee in July 29 to discuss this matter." He expressed his fear of "returning to a crisis management phase instead of solving the crisis."
