Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Thursday said that some elements within the U.S. administration stood behind the 9/11 attack to reverse the declining American economy. The Iranian leader told a UN meeting that most people believe the U.S. government staged the 9/11 attacks.
There was a theory that "some segments within the U.S. government orchestrated the attack to reverse the declining American economy and its grips on the Middle East, in order also to save the Zionist regime," Ahmadinejad said. In response, the U.S. delegation led Western walkout in the UN General Assembly.
"The majority of the American people as well as other nations and politicians agree with this view," the Iranian president conveyed. Ahmadinejad also called on the UN to launch an investigation that would determine what happened on 9/11.
