A bombing attack by NATO early Monday destroyed Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi’s office in his Tripoli compound. The attack followed massive clashes in the besieged city of Misrata.
A Libyan official accompanying reporters to Qaddafi’s compound said 45 people were hurt, 15 seriously, in the attack. “It was an attempt to assassinate Colonel Qaddafi,” he said, according to AFP.
On his part, Saif al-Islam, the Libyan leader’s son, described the attack as “cowardly.”
A meeting room facing Qaddafi’s office was badly damaged by the blast, according to AFP.
