Lufthansa German Airlines celebrates 35 years in Dubai

On May 3, 1976, the first Lufthansa flight touched down at Dubai International Airport, linking the Emirati city with Lufthansa's impressive global route network. Lufthansa added flights to Abu Dhabi in November of the same year. Today, Lufthansa serves the United Arab Emirates 21 times a week, with daily services from Frankfurt and Munich to Dubai and a daily flight connecting Frankfurt and Abu Dhabi.
“Dubai has been an important destination in Lufthansa’s Middle East portfolio for many years,” said Mr. Peter Pollak, Lufthansa General Manager UAE and Director Gulf & Iraq, underlining the German airline’s long-term commitment to the United Arab Emirates. “The UAE is a significant trade partner for Germany and a very popular destination for holiday makers. There is also a steadily growing demand from UAE residents traveling to Europe and to over 20 Lufthansa destinations in the USA and Canada,” he added.
Via Lufthansa’s Frankfurt hub, passengers have access to the Lufthansa’s global route network of 127 destinations in Europe and a total of 211 around the globe in Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia. Across the Middle East Lufthansa serves 13 destinations in 10 countries with the latest addition being Erbil, Iraq.
