Worker arrested for photoshopping Hindu Deity on Kabaa

An Indian worker has been arrested in Riyadh after photoshopping a Hindu deity onto a photograph of the Kabaa.

The man, who is unnamed but is an agricultural engineer in his 40s, according to Gulf News, posted the image on Facebook. When a Saudi national saw the image he was furious and notified authorities.

The scandal went on to provoke the ire of many more in the country, who were outraged at the apparently sacrilegious infringement on the sanctity of Islam’s holiest place.

Tweeters took it upon themselves to draw attention to the supposed crime, become virtual vigilantes against the crime of religious insensitivity.

In Indian resident in Riyadh draws Buddha on top of the Holy Kaaba and had been arrested after we started a reporting campaign against him. 

Others linked the act to further transgressions against holiness in Saudi.

Saudi law states that anyone involved in circulating material that may violate public order, religious values, public morals, and privacy can be jailed up to five years.
