US sitcom star Bill Cosby's case addressing rape allegations shows there's never enough evidence for the people who want to blame women.
Now a YouTube video of a group of men following and harassing two women on the street went viral in Saudi Arabia, sparking online arguments that often point fingers at the women who experienced the verbal assault.
Many of the comments blamed the women for "provoking" the men, despite their requests for them to stop. They were surrounded by the men and they seemed to try to walk away from the situation.
People were quick to point out that while the women wore abayas, they didn't wear them properly, didn't cover their eyes and "wore makeup."
The Twitter outrage caused Mecca Emir Khaled al-Faisal to call for authorities to investigate the footage and arrest the people in question, The Saudi Gazette reported.
Here's the video.
And here are a couple tweet responses:
#تحرش_بفتاتين_بجده If abayas are supposed to protect us, it's doing a lousy job and is pretty useless

common sense in their brains need to be activated; is it ok to harass these girls in light of Islam? #تحرش_بفتاتين_بجده
