Today Palestinians have been marching to commemorate 'Land Day'

On 30 March 1976, Palestinians inside Israel went on general strike to protest the government’s plan to expropriate 5,000 acres of land in the Galilee. By the end of the day, six Palestinians had been shot dead by Israeli forces.

Now Palestinians mark “land day” on March 30 each year to protest Israel’s ongoing theft of Palestinian land.

Marches were held around historic Palestine, and some were met with violent responses by Israeli forces. This march in Bethlehem went to the site of a newly constructed section of the separation wall in Beit Jala:
