An Egyptian Facebook page has hilariously photoshopped images of everyday life in the country to include famous faces of Hollywood. The hysterical result provides us with a hint of what might happen to the celebrities were they to flee America following Trump’s election.
In the imaginary Egypt of A-list stars, Dwayne “the rock” Johnson would squeeze his wrestling body into a workshop to become boring old Zalata al-Tarzi, a tailor:
Robert Downey Jnr would leave New York behind to sell tarmous in Cairo as Rami ‘Awni al-Saghiir:
Sylvester Stallone would be less Rocky and more vegetable-y as Sa’eed Sayd al-Salamone:
Mel Gibson would become Mishal Mahsan, a baker.
Legend of cinema, Robert de Niro, would become Rami Bakhira, a measly basket-maker.
Action man Jackie Chan would be a lowly ka’ak vendor, Zaki Hisham:
“Tamat at-Tarjama”, which has over 1.5 million likes on Facebook, usually shares photoshopped images and pictures from Egyptian comedy films. The latest collection, which were widely shared across social media, received thousands of likes and hundreds of comments.
I laughed a lot!
A great album. Well done, man! You killed me laughing.
The translation of the names is funnier than the pictures.
As terrifying as some of Trump’s policies might seem, somehow it seems unlikely that this collection of millionaires will be popping up on the streets of Cairo anytime soon.
