No matter where you’re from, renewing an ID is a process we can all relate to (although, let's face it, the photo's usually not the most flattering). However, one Egyptian woman, in a particularly bizarre incident, was concerned more about the information on the latest version of her ID than the glamor shot.

Yasmin Osama, a 26-year-old Egyptian pharmacist, was surprised to find that some of her personal details had been updated on the new card without her knowing. Nothing big—she just happened to have acquired a husband named Ibrahim Moris, a man she’d never met, let alone married!

Note: Egyptian IDs, in addition to other standard information, include both a person's marital status and his/her religion.

What made the incident even funnier is that Osama, a Muslim woman, had been wed to a Christian man; this is forbidden in Islam, though Muslim men can marry Christian or Jewish women. So, even if he’d turned out to be a nice guy, the surprise union was doomed from the beginning.

Osama, in response to the issue, started an Arabic hashtag that translates to, Divorce me, Ibrahim!

Arab Twitter loved it, and took every opportunity to poke fun at the incident, as well as at the Ministry of Interior:

This incident has turned into a big deal, and this girl put the people in the Ministry of Interior in an embarrassing predicament!

Then, there was this jokester who played the part of Ibrahim when he heard the news:

Alright, alright. First, let’s get married—then we can talk about getting a divorce.

Meanwhile, this user demanded further information on Osama's marital status:

So...did he divorce her yet, or what?!

The Ministry of Interior has since apologized for the incident and vowed (no pun intended) to give Yasmine a corrected card soon, according to Al Arabiya English.
