After massive flooding and at least three deaths from a storm that hit Jordan's capital Thursday morning, social media users are calling for the resignation of Amman Mayor Aqel Biltaji.

Flooding has been a major problem in the capital for years — but when rain hits again, the country is always unprepared. Residents don't see any changes being implemented, and some blame it on the Greater Amman Municipality's misuse of public funds.

At least two children were killed when they drowned in their basement apartment in the Bayader Wadi al-Seer area; another man died in flash floods at the al-Hussein Palestinian refugee camp. The Civil Defense Department told The Jordan Times it's rescued 698 people as of Wednesday afternoon.

And 40 minutes of rain did the damage. The Jordan Times says Gardens Street, Abdullah Ghosheh Street and Queen Rania Street near the University of Jordan were areas that saw the most flooding. In the western neighborhood of Bayader Wadi al-Seer, residents said the water caused power outages.
