Egyptian Social Media Goes Nuts After the Mo Salah Injury

After the heartbreaking end of the Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid, Saturday, Arabs and Egyptians reverted to the social media to flood feeds with images and videos in support of Liverpool’s best player Mohamed Salah who left the game badly injured.

Salah, Liverpool’s best player of the season and Egypt’s greatest hope for the World Cup, left the game in tears after only 30 minutes play, suffering a shoulder injury caused by Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos who took him down during the game.

Shortly after the game ended, Egyptians flooded the social media with Mo Salah support and slamming Ramos, who was the reason behind the star player's injury with the well-known Egyptian sense of humor and sarcasm present for the occasion.


Translation: “I am going to play on playstation and hit Ramos to take Salah’s right back”

Many prominent Egyptian figures also tweeted in support for Salah, including the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah Sisi:

“I hope the Egyptian hero, Mohamed Salah will get well and get back to play soon. He will always be an Egyptian star.” 

Other users went to accuse Ramos of deliberately injuring Salah to guarantee winning the championship: 

Meanwhile, latest medical reports on Salah’s injury by the Egyptian FA indicate he sustained “a sprain of the shoulder ligaments”, raising hopes against he will be able to play in the World Cup.

Translation: “Dr. Mohammed Abu Ola, the national team doctor, said aftera phone call he made to the Liverpool Medical Service, Mohammed Salah was wounded in the shoulder, adding the x-rays of the day would be done on the site of the infection to determine its range, appropriate treatment and how long it would take. Get well soon Mohamed Salah.”
