Anti-Islam sentiments are still as strong as ever on social media. One hashtag, on "creeping Sharia," has continued gaining momentum for quite some time.

The #CreepingSharia hashtag began with expressions of Islamophobia, literally — a fear of Islam taking over and "radicalizing" the Western world.

This was the first use of the hashtag, in 2009.

Most of the #CreepingSharia users fall under that category, expressing concern over Islam's expansion in the refugee crisis and Muslim "terrorists." The majority of tweets look like these.

But there's a handful of Twitter users going against the grain. Many of them poke fun at the fear mongers, others use the hashtag to highlight the Islamic world in a positive (and often humorous) way.

Here are some of the gems worth looking at.
