ALBAWABA - A TikTok trend has gone viral after many claimed that pickle water can help treat sore throat. But, is it true?
During winter, multiple viruses spread faster for instance influenza, colds and Covid-19 variants can rapidly spread at this time of year, causing many discomforts including sore throat.
Several home-made mixtures like herbal teas can always be good for helping to get rid of symptoms of diseases, nonetheless, Vitamin C, just like drinking orange or lime juice can also have a great to fantastic impact on improving the health of an ill person.

Does drinking pickle water treat a sore throat?
Despite herbal teas and other options like medicine, TikTok users allegedly claimed that drinking pickle water or juice can help treat sore throat. But, what do experts think?
In a report published by the “Prevention” website, Dr Omid Mehdi Zadeh explained that there is no scientific research that supports the use of pickle water to treat sore throats. However, some of the elements found in this drink may theoretically help.
On the other hand, the Dr. reassured people to be cautious as he said that pickle water contains very salty water, and that can lead to an increase in blood pressure, however, despite that, he added that "it is known that gargling with salt water helps treat sore throats."

Furthermore, he added: "Salt also creates an insulating layer on the throat, which helps loosen phlegm and reduce inflammation."
He maintained: "Gargling with pickle water may help treat sore throat... but it is difficult to determine the truth without clear medical evidence."
