“Excessive consumption of milk tea, especially if it's high in sugar and caffeine, can contribute to weight gain, digestive issues, acidity, and an increased risk of dental problems,” says Dr Dimple Jangda, Ayurveda & Gut Health Coach.
“Combining milk with tea leaves potentially hinders the absorption of certain antioxidants, such as catechins, found in tea. This interaction reduces the beneficial effects of tea on cardiovascular health and antioxidant activity,” says Dr Jangda. She further shared some healthier alternatives of milk tea in her recent Instagram post.
Golden milk: It is a soothing drink made with turmeric, cinnamon and ginger. This warm, spiced beverage is known for its anti-inflammatory benefits and comforting properties.
Chamomile: Known for its calming properties, chamomile tea is excellent for reducing stress and promoting sleep.
Peppermint: Knowns for its refreshing and cooling properties, peppermint tea helps soothe digestive issues and relieve nausea.
Ginger: Spicy and warming, ginger tea is great for digestion, reducing inflammation and easing nausea.
Green Tea: Packed with bioactive compounds, antioxidants, and polyphenols, green tea helps reduce cell degradation in the body.
