Egyptian director Mohamamd Diab has refused to accept Egyptian singer Tamer Husni’s attacks over the film “678”. Tamer had accused the film of insulting him by using a portion of one of his songs in a scene in the film insinuating that the song calls for sexual harassment.
The scene featured the shadow of a guy hitting on a girl with Tamer’s song “Aktar Haga Bahiba Fiki…Teebit Albik” (The most thing I like about you is your soft heart) in the background. Diab stressed that the scene simply features a guy following a girl everywhere she goes and tries to hit on her in any way possible. He added that he holds great respect for Tamer and did not intentionally mean to insult Tamer by using his song.
According to the internet website MBC.net, Diab added that the theme of the film is to differentiate between hitting on someone and sexual harassment. The film strives at pointing the light on the issue of sexual harassment that has become so evident in today’s society, especially in heavily populated areas.
