Egyptian actress Sumaya Al Khashab surprised everyone when she announced that she will not accept a wage less than 150 thousand Egyptian pounds to appear on any television program during the holy month of Ramadan, which is twice as much as she received last year.
Television producers and directors of different programs were shocked at Summaya for the new wage which they considered to be an exaggerated one. They did however state that the actress had doubled her wage due to the fact that she had been away from the scenes for a long time and needed some way to compensate for her absence.
The last film Summaya took part in was in 2008 in the film “Al Rayes Umar Harb”, which was directed by Khaled Yousif. In addition, the actress is not taking part in any television drama being aired this year, due to the fact that all the projects she began working on to return to her audience were postponed.
Summaya has postponed the airing of her latest television drama “Souq Al Bashar” (Human Market) until next year.
