Egyptian singer Shireen Abd Al Wahab stated she greatly regrets singing for the ousted Egyptian President Husni Mubarak and said she had sung the song without being conscious of what she was doing.
According to the internet website MBC.net, Shireen said that despite she is in her thirties, there are many subjects she is ignorant about with regards to politics and the former regime of Mubarak. She added that she did not attempt to get close to Alaa and Jamal Mubarak despite the fact that she met them on several occasions.
Shireen revealed that she had refused to sing for the National Democratic Party and told them that she only sings for her fans. She denied accusations that she had received millions of Egyptian pounds from Ahmad Izz, head of the National Party, to sing for the Party.
With regards to not having released a song about the Revolution of January 25 that overthrew the government of Mubarak, Shireen said that she had been extremely busy in the recent period with following up on events in Egypt and making sure that her family is safe and sound. She added that once conditions are stable in Egypt she will release a song about the revolution.
