Amidst the unstable conditions many Arab countries are witnessing, the eight season of the talent program ‘Star Academy’ has been launched. Many had anticipated that the program would be cancelled this year due to the chaotic conditions in the Middle East in addition to problems that the board of directors of the program faced.
It is said that a month ago, a fire had broke out in the building of the academy and most of the new decorations and wardrobes for the participants was destroyed in the fire. The organizers were able to overcome the crises and have the show ready in time for launch.
This season will include twenty participants from different Arab countries like Kuwait, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon, Bahrain and Jordan. The big surprise of the launching ceremony featured prominent Algerian singer Warda, who had appeared in a completely new look. Warda had worn a red dress and appeared to be overwhelmed with joy the minute she got up on stage.
At the beginning of the show, presenter of the program Hilda Khalifah appeared on stage and welcomed the audience, participants and organizers of the show. Hilda said to the audience that young people around the Arab countries are going out on protests wanting their basic freedoms to be fulfilled and so is the case of the participants, who will express their freedom through art.
